MikoStorm Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

1. Introduction

MikoStorm is an open-source third-party viewer for virtual worlds based on the Second Life Viewer technology.

This Privacy Policy explains what information MikoStorm collects, processes, and stores, and how user privacy is handled.

Our goal is to provide a transparent and privacy-focused viewer experience. MikoStorm is designed to give users control over their data.

2. No Built-in AI and No AI Data Processing

MikoStorm does not contain any built-in artificial intelligence system.

There is:

no integrated AI assistant,
no local or cloud-based AI model,
no automatic AI analysis,
no transmission of user data to AI providers.

MikoStorm may provide optional interfaces, such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) functionality, which allow users to connect external tools.

These integrations are:

disabled by default,
controlled by the user,
not part of the MikoStorm core functionality.

MikoStorm itself does not provide AI services and does not send user data to AI systems.

3. Second Life Account Information

MikoStorm requires Second Life account credentials to connect to Linden Lab services.

MikoStorm does not:

store your Second Life password,
collect your account credentials,
transmit login information to third parties.

Authentication is handled through the official Second Life login process and related viewer protocols.

Users are responsible for protecting their own account credentials.

4. Personal Data Collection

MikoStorm does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information.

MikoStorm does not collect:

real names,
email addresses,
physical addresses,
payment information,
government identifiers.

No user account is required to use MikoStorm.

5. Telemetry and Analytics

MikoStorm does not include mandatory tracking or analytics.

The viewer does not automatically send:

usage statistics,
behavioral tracking data,
location information,
avatar activity information.

If optional diagnostic information is provided by the user, it is only used for troubleshooting and improving the software.

6. Local Data Storage

Like other Second Life viewers, MikoStorm may store information locally on the user's computer.

Examples include:

viewer settings,
graphics preferences,
cache data,
locally stored configuration files,
logs created by the user or viewer for debugging purposes.

This information remains on the user's device unless the user chooses to share it.

7. MCP Interface and External Tools

MikoStorm may include optional MCP functionality.

The MCP interface acts as a communication bridge between the viewer and external MCP-compatible applications.

MikoStorm does not:

provide an AI service,
select external applications,
control external tools,
receive data from external AI systems.

Users are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies of any external applications they connect to MikoStorm.

8. Third-Party Services

MikoStorm may communicate with external services required for normal viewer operation, including Second Life grid services.

These services are operated by third parties and are subject to their own privacy policies.

MikoStorm is not responsible for data processing performed by external services.

9. Open Source Transparency

MikoStorm is developed as an open-source project.

The source code is publicly available, allowing users and developers to review how the software operates.

Transparency and community review are important parts of the project's approach to privacy.

10. Security

While reasonable efforts are made to protect user privacy, no software can guarantee absolute security.

Users should:

keep their operating system updated,
protect their account credentials,
only connect trusted external tools,
review third-party software permissions.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when features or functionality change.

The latest version will always be available together with the MikoStorm project documentation.
